Open Studios Brno 2026
4. 6. 2026 18:00 – 21:00
House of the Lords of Kunštát
The 15th edition of the OPEN STUDIOS BRNO 2026 festival of open studios is about to begin. Once again this year, dozens of diverse venues across the city—from individual artist studios and creative clusters to galleries—will open their doors to the public. Their shared goal remains the same: to facilitate authentic encounters with Brno’s visual arts scene in the unique environment of working artists’ studios. This year’s guest curator is Ivana Hrončeková, who will introduce the festival theme AUDIOVISION as part of the programme.
“I see the year-round support of Brno’s artistic community as the core mission of the Open Studios Art Hub team. A less visible part of this community, however, consists of people working with more ephemeral media such as film, video, and various forms of performativity, and this year’s festival aims to bring them into focus as well.
Alongside guided tours and Artist Talks, I would like to invite visitors to Thursday’s playful and experimental musical performance by Bolek, as well as Friday evening’s visit to the studio of Filip Cenek and Markéta Lisá, who are preparing an installation for the festival that also explores the magic of traditional film material.
Saturday will be vibrant in the Cejl district thanks to Ghettofest, and at Káznice through the pop-up moving-image exhibition Open Screens, created through an Open Call in collaboration with the newly emerging Shortcut Gallery. Tomáš Moravanský will also present his remarkable three-hour stand-up performance there.
On Sunday, I invite everyone to a brunch featuring treats from Těsto, followed by a workshop with artists Gabriella Achadinha and Thérèse Anna Rafter, who will present their work at Cinema CIT. The accompanying workshop will explore contemporary artistic strategies employed by a generation shaped by an intergenerational colonial experience, recontextualizing found-footage archival materials through updated commentary.”
