Ioana Vreme Moser: Screaming Minerals

On the occasion of her participation in the Beyond the Sound exhibition, Romanian artist Ioana Vreme Moser prepared a sound performance using her own handmade instruments. The performance will take place on Friday 10 May 2024 at 5 pm in the foyer of the House of Arts.

SCREAMING MINERALS

Extracted from the ground, and manipulated through industrial processes, electronic components like semiconductors return to Earth's geological layer in extended wastelands.

Extending the Sizzling Semiconductors workshop, Screaming Minerals enacts an improvisation performance with instruments from 'transistors' made of waste, collectively forming an orchestra. Noises and tones emerge as radiosensitive stones and pieces of scrap metal are scratched with needles. Oscillation occurs at a precise touch of a burned spot rendering the instruments in highly impredictable sonic landscapes.

IOANA VREME MOSER

The sound and transmedia artist works with hardware electronics, is interested in object memory in computer technology and studies old patents, technologies or components, their development and their impact on the environment. Her current research focuses on working with fluids and finding alternative, more durable and environmentally friendly systems. She pushes the boundaries of tactile experimentalism with the symbiotic relationship she creates in her installations and performances. She invites the viewer to go on a journey where electronic circuits, drawings and sounds mingle to create complex and fragile sculptural structures that invite reflection.
