Happy New Year 2026

Pavel Korbička´s neon intervention Correlation of Spaces loosely paraphrases the various uses of the cube motif in Dalibor Chatrný´s work from the 1970s. It also reflects Korbička´s long standing interest in the subject of imbalance.

The dimensions of the light installation are derived from the length of the outer side wall of the Jaroslav Král exhibition space, which projects into the park from the rear of the House of Arts. Korbička has expanded this measurement into three dimensions and moved it to the outer corner of the gallery that surrounds the exhibition space. The neon cube´s off-center installation from the House of Arts´s north-south axis of symmetry is balanced out by the asymmetrically placed window created as part of the building´s renovation in 2008–2009.

Pavel Korbička´s light installation restores the house of Arts´s original, balanced, and symmetrical composition and acts a reminder of the building´s exceptional, centralized layout.
