Zuzana Blochová & Habima Fuchs (Archive of Ester Krumbachová)

ZUZANA BLOCHOVÁ is a member of Are, which since 2016 has been working on a series of projects that interpret the diverse and interconnected work of Ester Krumbachová. Through various exhibition formats, curated screenings, publishing activities and an open online archive, they open up the work of this key figure of the Czechoslovak New Wave for the present. Are initiated the creation of Les, a community for cultivation, theory and art that explores the relationship between contemporary art, landscape, human health and interspecies coexistence. Its main activities each year are forest symposia, which take place in open meadow and forest settings in the Orlické Mountains.

HABIMA FUCHS is a Czech visual artist whose work has long been revising the established mechanisms and traditional existential, philosophical or metaphysical turns that we rely on to understand the world we live in. The symbols and motifs that she reflects and materializes come from different cultures and times, from the framework of Christian iconography and oriental religious contexts. The result is an exceptionally impressive imagery, seductive and subversive, but also deeply self-critical. (Barbora Kundračíková)

She has been in long-term collaboration with the SVIT Gallery.

Zuzana Blochová and Habima Fuchs have been collaborating and editing the online Ester Krumbachová Archive since 2021. As part of the BAiR + G99 residency, they organized a participatory reading of Ester Krumbachová's texts at the Café Kaprál Residence. They also focus on the processing of the author's texts into sound form in collaboration with her former colleagues and friends. The selected texts include letters, short stories, fairy tales, diaries and dream records.
