The pop-up exhibition Time Collapsing at Vašulka Kitchen Brno brings together four pairs of works created across different periods throughout the more than twenty year history of the Center for Audiovisual Studies (CAS) at FAMU in Prague. The exhibition concept establishes new relationships, parallels, and contrasts between them, disrupting a linear understanding of time. Through the pairing of earlier and more recent works, different approaches to similar questions and themes such as time, repetitiveness, dystopia or technology and escapism become apparent. Through their installation, the works form a new synthesis: a space in which a dialogue unfolds across time and boundaries between past and present dissolve. Rather than treating history as a closed chapter, the exhibition approaches memory as an active force shaping the present.
The exhibition is one of a series of presentations taking place on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Center for Audiovisual Studies at the Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague.
The exhibition is organized in collaboration of Vašulka Kitchen Brno and CAS at FAMU.
