You are cordially invited to the ceremonial unveiling of the abstract mural Riverflow, inspired by the element of water, by the young, almost blind artist Michaela Mráčková.
The event will take place on Tuesday, November 18, from 3:00 p.m. directly at Táborské Embankment near the Elizabethan Convent. The program will include a musical performance by Tobias Krsek, which works with sound in a way similar to how the artist herself approaches it in her creative process.
The event is free and open to the public.
PROGRAM
3:00 p.m. – Opening of the event
3:30 p.m. – zlobhoBobo, a musical performance by producer and artist Tobias Krsek, characterized by an eclectic mix of styles and groovy rhythms combining influences of dub, fast breaks, UK bass, trip-hop sound collages, and other genres.
For this special occasion, he has prepared an ambient, collage-like set thematically focused on water.
MICHAELA MRÁČKOVÁ: RIVERFLOW
The mural by the young artist was created under the guidance of Patricie Fexová, head of the Painting 3 Studio at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Brno University of Technology (VUT).
Artist Michaela Mráčková conceived her work as a visual allusion to the flow of water, incorporating her personal experience of limited sight. She employs not only visual but also tactile and auditory perception, which lends her work exceptional sensitivity.
Part of the mural includes a graphic record of surrounding sounds, especially the murmur of the Svratka River, which the artist transformed into a drawing, translating her auditory experience into poetic dialogues that interconnect color, rhythm, and space.
The overall composition, titled Riverflow, thus establishes an inspiring visual relationship with the Svratka River, particularly when viewed from the opposite embankment on Poříčí Street.
In transferring the design onto the concrete wall, Michaela Mráčková collaborated with Lukáš Veselý from the company Malujeme jinak, who realized the painting using the airless spray technique and also contributed his own mural on a nearby transformer station, depicting a painting child—again thematically connected to the motif of water.
The project’s aim is the aesthetic transformation of the space, the strengthening of community ties, and a sense of belonging to the place, while also drawing attention to the importance of flood prevention measures and creating a space for relaxation, sharing, and encounters.
The creation of the mural was initiated by the Brno-střed City District Office, in cooperation with the Brno City Architect’s Office and the Department of Culture of the Brno City Municipality, which entrusted the task to the House of Arts Brno.
