Tanja Boukal: Do You Know That We Have Lost?

A guided tour of exhibition Tanja Boukal: Do you Know That We Have Lost? will take place on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at 5 pm in House of Arts Brno. The exhibition will be conducted by curator Jana Vránová.

In her works Tanja Boukal explores themes such as struggle for work and survival or migration and the related social deprivation. The material she works in is threads, or textiles, that she makes using different techniques. The professionally mastered traditional craft of weaving and embroidery is augmented by Boukal’s sharp and empathic interest in human existence, such as when she embroiders photos from news reports on immigrants. The extremely difficult and time-consuming technique that Boukal chooses seems to emphasise the importance of the portrayed and to return a piece of human dignity to them.
