The exhibition revisits a milestone in the local history of digital art—the exhibition Orbis Fictus: New Media in Contemporary Art (1995–1996; National Gallery, Prague; curated by Ludvík Hlaváček and Marta Smolíková). It takes the form of a retrospective project based on the staging of historiographic research results through a database interface, alongside a reinstallation of selected archival materials, documentation, and recorded interviews with witnesses.

We would like to thank the Center for Contemporary Arts Prague, Marta Smolíková, David Junek, Elen Řádová, Miloš Vojtěchovský, and Tomáš Ruller for providing archival materials and artworks from the original exhibitions in Prague and Polička. Special thanks to Jan Krtička for the sound intervention in the exhibition.

Acknowledgements: The exhibition was developed as part of the project Local Digital Art and Culture as a Subject of Historiographic Research at the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University in Brno.
Grant provider: Czech Science Foundation
Grant no.: GA24-10667S

The exhibition is supported by the City of Brno and the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic.
