My mind has declared a strike, bones have stiffened, and everything is heading towards the expected doom

Memories of warm moments envelop me like a blanket. Working with the old brings new emotions. It's creating a microcosm where you feel comforted by the past.
Loss of matter, dissolution into the universe where each bead represents a story that intertwines with light.
I often come to bus stops just to watch people going somewhere. What is more organic at the end - the state of comfort or chaos? Why do we escape even from comfort? Do we need chaos?
Art or escapism in its purpose - an attempt to fill our inner emptiness. It is the only true indicator of our potential. Death eventually takes everything.
It's easier to put on a "mask" than to be oneself.
Don't hide! Shine bright like a diamond.

As an accompanying program to the exhibition cycle Your Addiction is the Message (2024-25), we present at the G99 gallery an exhibition of semestral works by students of the Photography Studio FaVU, which is the culmination of a semester-long exploration of the theme 'Withdrawal Symptoms'. The aim was not to seek a literal transcript of this term, but rather to take it as a starting point. And although upon final reflection we found ourselves somewhere on the waves of escapism, terms such as loss, search, desire, or dependencies still resonate across all exhibited pieces.

The response to the given theme through the individual artistic practices of each author reminds us of an important aspect of the problem that we might overlook in purely discursive thinking. Namely, that escapism can provide a safe space for understanding and sharing, from which we can emerge strengthened. Furthermore, by experiencing the various phases of escapism, we gain individual, emotionally charged, and most importantly, relevant information about their nature and form, which can be crucial for subsequent reflection on its causes.
