ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
The exhibition, featuring contemporary artists across generations, explores the countryside as a space with potential to address some of today’s societal challenges. Sociology describes rural and urban life as two complementary ways of inhabiting the world. Can the rural way of life serve as a therapy for ubiquitous stress, burnout, anxiety, or climate-related grief? It offers slowing down, community, connection with nature, hands-on and craft-based activities, and a more sustainable approach to the environment and care for public goods. Contemporary art and practices beyond it show that these aspects are not mere relics of the past, but that we can revisit and reengage with them today.
