ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

The curatorial selection by Tomáš Ruller and Jennifer Helia DeFelice presents a pilot presentation of the emerging Video–Multimedia–Performance (VMP) database at VKB. The project results from research conducted with grant support in 2024–2025 and is coordinated with the exhibition Distorted Image at the Brno House of Arts.

The exhibition aims to offer a representative overview of diverse video works by individual artists and creative groups, selected from available archival material documenting twenty years of the studio’s existence from 2000 to 2020. The presentation also includes examples of performative video works from the Video–Multimedia–Performance Studio period of 1993–2000.

From a collected set of approximately 200 works, around 100 videos by about 55 artists, along with roughly 15 collective works, are planned for release in 2026. Important contextual background is provided by the re-accessible studio website at VKB, documenting the historical development of the field from its early versions in the mid-1990s up to 2020.
