European integration and the global interlinking of the world bring new challenges in the mediation of national cultures. Visual art clearly demonstrates the effects of cultures becoming close. The “global village” is a reality. In today’s world, the importance of the role of artist as a global player, as a pilgrim among cultures, has grown. In the 1950s many German artists were attracted by art centres such as Paris, and in the 1960s, in turn, by New York, while artists from other countries chose Germany as a place for living and working. The IFA exhibition shows another view on “Art Space Germany“ It presents it as a diversified space held together by trans-cultural unity.
