A lecture relating to the pioneers of early computer (algorithmic) art is dedicated to the revolution that took place in the world of images when they got transformed from the analogue and continuous sphere into the digital and discrete sphere of aesthetic processes. The basic aspects radically distinguishing algorithmic art from traditional art forms will be discussed. Frieder Nake is a mathematician who has become a computer scientist, but he had begun his career as an artist. He is now a media theoretician and designer. A lecture within the exhibition Computer Graphic Re-visited 2.0.
