"Rak on tur” presents a series of works created during the exploration of different materials. In an everyday, discreet gesture Arismendi re-creates everyday objects and puts them into different situations and arrangements. She looks for and creates order through constant repetition and time-consuming rearranging of the formal possibilities of certain materials. The obsessive repetition gives rise to an idiosyncratic, stable system. Arismendi seeks to expose the process where the content and the rendition of a work comment on each other. Her installations reflect the acceptance of the process of creation, whether it leads to a triumph or not.
One of Silvina Arismendi’s works deals with space, the product of the measurable beams, movement and wavelengths of light. She covers the gallery walls with geometric structures. A distinct feature of her work is the relentless research into materials that she goes on to transform into new shapes and meanings. Arismendi re-creates countless everyday objects and renders them in a surrealist way. She arranges them into already known configurations of objects, movement and structures; all in blissful primary colours.
Silvina Arismendi was born in 1976 in Montevideo, Uruguay. In 2000 she received a scholarship in the Czech Republic. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague in 2007. Since 2003 she has had exhibitions both in Europe and Latin America.
