City Interventions present architectural projects which have not been commissioned. They have arisen from the inner or professional needs of their authors. A need to bring attention to something that does not work within the city space, although there is a solution to how it might work; a need to show the potential of places through which we may walk every day but which we often hardly notice.
City Interventions Brno 2016 was announced in April 2016 and by the end of August of the same year sixty proposals for various modifications to the public spaces in Brno were received. This was followed by happenings and short-term interventions organized in particular locations together with guided walks and discussions in September and October. The whole event took place under the auspices of the mayor of the City of Brno Petr Vokřál and the city district of Brno-Centre.
The exhibition in the House of Lords of Kunštát will display all the received proposals in the form of drawings, visualisations, descriptions, etc., in different rendering from professional architects via collages to intuitive sketches by amateurs. We will also inform on the work-in-progress during the implementation of the selected projects. All of the above will be presented in an original installation designed by the architect Jakub Kopec.
Organised by the Brno House of Arts and Urban da Brno under the auspices of the Mayor, Petr Vokřál, and the Brno-centre city quarter. The project of 2017 is held with financial support from the City of Brno and the Brno-centre city quarter.
