Brno Art Open — Sculptures in the Streets

The sixth edition of the festival Sculptures in the Streets (BAO 2017), with the motto “Poetry and Truth”, logically follows up on the intention of the previous years to develop on the theme of “visual art and its function in public space”. The BAO 2017 artistic concept comes from Marek Pokorný, former director of the Moravian Gallery in Brno and present artistic manager of Plato Gallery in Ostrava. He has decided to invite for collaboration curators Tomáš Knoflíček and Libor Novotný, founders and authors of a similar event named Kukačka (Cuckoo) and held since 2010 in Ostrava, albeit without stable institutional background. The festival will introduce thirteen Czech and Slovak artists (Krištof Kintera, Pavel Sterec, Pavel Karous, Martin Kochan, among others) and three international ones.

Organized by the Brno House of Arts in cooperation with the City of Brno, under the auspices of Mr. Petr Vokřál, Mayor of the City of Brno. The festival is supported by the Czech-German Future Fund, the Southern Moravia Region, the Czech Ministry of Culture and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
