The Tugendhat Villa Endowment Fund, established in March 2006, continues in the activities of the Tugendhat Villa Foundation, which was abrogated for formal reasons. The Brno House of Arts and several representatives of the Brno business world, stood at the origin of both of the aforementioned organizations, established to support the renovation and promotion of this unique monument of modern architecture. The Tugendhat Villa Endowment Fund's Board of Trustees is chaired by Dr. Pavel Liška, previously director of the Brno House of Arts and founder of the earlier Tugendhat Villa Foundation. He is presently Rector of the Academy of Art, Architecture and Design in Prague. Professor Radek Horáček, also a previous director of The Brno House of Arts, and Bronislav Hybl, head of COMMERZBANK AG Brno branch are also members of the Board of Trustees. Dr. Jitka Vitásková is the Endowment Fund's current director.
The Tugendhat Villa Endowment Fund's mission is to support renovation of the Villa Tugendhat as a historic monument, as well as ensure cultural and promotional activities for the house. The Tugendhat Villa Endowment Fund's goal is to initiate open dialogue and public discussion on the approach to renovation taken and future use of this monument, thus constituting, in cooperation with the Brno City Museum as Tugendhat Villa Administrator, an important bridge between professionals in Brno and on the international scene.
At present, the Tugendhat Villa Endowment Fund has focused on supporting the “Tugendhat Villa Accruement of Documentation Project”, carried out under the trust of the Brno City Museum with the objective of collecting, researching, evaluating and processing, both technologically and representationally, archival and contemporary materials – photographs, films and recordings. These will be used in a publication about the Tugendhat Villa, reflecting its upcoming renovation as a monument and modern archive centre as part of the Tugendhat Villa Research and Documentation Centre.
