„Memory“ – the key word of the Media-Performance 3 symposium – represents to us a borderline between live arts, events and processes, and media of recording and representation, from analog to digital. We use the metaphor of memory as an interface/an access point to the debate on media and performance. The media can be seen as models of our minds, as well as they can be used as extensions of our memory abilities. Thus, to think about relations between live actions and memory media, requires from us to take into account functions and politics of memory and remembering too.
The participants of the symposium are Czech and German theoreticians of new media arts and theory of science and artists dealing with the issue of processing and reconstruction of the past.
The symposium is divided into three thematic parts: Memory Performance / The Art of Memory / Mechanisms of Remembering and Forgetting
The symposium lectures are accompanied by the evening programme and workshops:
Handa Gote research& development will introduce the performance Mr. Roman, Viera Čakányová will show her film Alda, Manuel Schmalstieg (Geneve) will lead a workshop Listening to Data and there will be possible to join Václav Peloušek‘s and Ondřej Merta’s (Brno) workshop Standuino.
The symposium venues, timetable and detailed program with CVs are specified here.
