Even with such a short period of time having elapsed, there is an irresistible temptation to introduce recent events into an historical context. The conditions that defined the 90's art scene was so all-embracing, that it is largely felt in its current condition. The painting genre lends itself well to an embodiment of the most fundamental features of this transformation. Among the most significant figures of the 90's are Josef Bolf, Jiří Černický, Patricie Fexová, Daniel Hanzlík, Pavel Hayek, Petr Lysáček, Ján Mančuška, Jiří Matějů, František Matoušek, Jan Nálevka, Michal Nesázal, Petr Pastrňák, Michal Pěchouček, Petr Písařík, Hana Puchová, Milan Salák, Vít Soukup, Jiří Surůvka, Jan Šerých, Michal Škoda, Jakub Špaňhel, Tomáš Vaněk, Markéta Vaňková and Ivan Vosecký. This exhibition is the first comprehensive attempt to summarize the main
protagonists in the field of painting during the previous decade. The exhibition was created in collaboration with Wannieck Gallery and naturally follows a showing of Czech painting from the 80's which took place at the Wannieck Gallery from October 2010 to March 2011. Curated by Richard Adam.
