Budoucnost centra Brna

The exhibition comprises of more than fifty urban planning designs for a new Brno railway station to be situated on a site below Petrov Hill as well as studies for a railway station in a remote location.
In September 2015 the City of Brno announced an international urban-planning competition in two rounds. Its subject was the urban and traffic design for a new Brno railway station situated on a site below Petrov Hill and simultaneously proposing a strategy for creating a fully-fledged part of town – on the site of the South Centre presently under development. The aim was to find both the design for an urban planning concept and the method and tools for its successful implementation.
The competition was anonymous – the identity of the competitors was not known to the organizers, the jury or the public until the final decision on the winners. Applicants to the exhibition came from more than 40 countries. All the applications are displayed – 57 submitted in the first round from which the jury, including representatives of the city and Czech and foreign experts, selected 8, which their authors elaborated on and presented in the second round of the competition. The results were officially announced and the presentation of the winning designs with an explanation by the organizers of the Future of Brno Centre competition took place at the Brno House of Arts on 10 May 2016.
